ONLINE PSYCHOTHERAPY AND EMDR

Online psychotherapy and EMDR could be an option if you live anywhere in the UK, have difficulty travelling, mobility problems, or anxiety issues which prevent you leaving your home, or are constantly travelling for work.

For online psychotherapy and EMDR at Evergreen Psychotherapy, I use the video platform Zoom. To do online therapy your device (i.e. phone, tablet, computer, games consul) must have a webcam and microphone as it is imperative that we can both see and hear each other.

When considering online therapy, it is important to remember that you will need:

  • A safe quiet space

  • To be alone

  • Not to be disturbed

  • A good internet connection

  • A fully-charged mobile device with sufficient data or good WiFi available

  • A device that can access Zoom

WHAT MY CLIENTS SAY

  • I wholeheartedly recommend Jette as a therapist. I was initially sceptical of EMDR, but that doubt quickly vanished when I had a profound experience that provided deep insight into accepting my vulnerabilities. Jette was a caring and empathetic guide throughout the process, offering exceptional support during our online sessions. I am deeply grateful for her work and dedication.

    Male, 40s - Online Psychotherapy

  • I have attended online counselling with Jette over 14 weeks due to a recent bereavement and feeling depressed, no energy - unable to cope with my daily life. We talked about my issues as well as used EMDR to overcome a past traumatic incident. I found EMDR initially a bit strange, but Jette really helped me ease into it and EMDR was very effective in changing my outlook and perspective in life. Jette also gave me a deeper understanding of myself and resources to help ground myself. I thought Jette was very understanding, supportive, safe and a calming presence. I will definitely come back again and would highly recommend Jette as a Counsellor.

    Mark, 30s

  • I reached out to Jette to help me with communication/relationship issues I had with my son and ex-wife. Over the course of my online therapy we discussed all of these issues and did some EMDR therapy on a specific traumatic experience in my past. During my therapy I learned an awful lot about myself, how my actions can be interpreted and also how better to understand and interpret the actions of others.

I found Jette's manner extremely warm, open and disarming. This allowed me to relax and talk freely to really get the benefit of her therapy and guidance.

Having now finished my regular sessions, my relationships with my son and ex-wife have improved hugely. Furthermore, I will use the learnings I have taken away to guide my behaviour and interactions going forward, both in those relationships and in my wider life. I cannot thank Jette enough for the positive change she has enabled me to achieve in my life and I now have a new confidence I will carry forward.

The specifics of online EMDR therapy

The main difference when working online with EMDR trauma therapy is the type of bilateral/dual attention stimulation used. I employ self-tapping as this leaves you with a greater sense of control. Once we agree to work together, more instruction will be given, and we will try different methods first to make sure you are happy with the concept before the EMDR therapy begins.

Care

During certain parts of the EMDR trauma therapy, for safety reasons, I will need to have the contact details of a person who will be nearby and available in the event of an emergency. This should be a person that you trust and can be a family member, friend, neighbour, or work colleague.

You can read more about EMDR on my EMDR Therapy page.

Accessing online psychotherapy or EMDR

For online psychotherapy and EMDR I ask that we use Zoom which is a free software platform for video calls. I will email you the link before our appointment. This platform is secure and encrypted to a high standard and therefore suitable for sensitive communication. The built-in high level of security means that it is very difficult for a third party to hack into the communication.
