aRE YOU CONSIDERING THERAPY?
I believe therapy can help if you answer ‘yes’ to any of the following questions:
Are you experiencing distressing and overwhelming feelings, or struggling to cope?
Do you feel down, unsure what to do, or lacking in motivation?
Have you noticed your energy levels are low?
Do you struggle to think straight or remember things?
Have you found life difficult – daily tasks deplete all your energy?
Have you been impacted by Covid19 directly or indirectly?
Have you experienced any traumatic events – past or present?
Are you having difficulty sleeping, or getting on with the people around you?
Are you worried about exams, the next step, your future?

WHAT MY CLIENTS SAY

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
When we meet, we will first establish that there is a good connection between us. ‘Does it feel right?’ This is necessary for any progress or therapeutic change to take place.
I will undertake a detailed psychotherapeutic assessment which may take a few sessions. After this, I will offer my professional opinion on which therapy path will be the most beneficial for your needs and expectations. Of course, you can ask any questions at any point throughout the process.
In the unlikely event that I am unable to provide therapy to you, I will do my best to help with alternative options.
WHAT IS A THERAPY SESSION LIKE?
During our sessions, I focus on you as a whole person including your body, your emotions, your thoughts, and your behaviours, all in an explorative way. I also consider the whole of you in relation to the other significant people in your life such as family members, friends and associates in school or work.
In addition to talking about your difficulties, we may sometimes use art and play materials to understand your distress and support you in moving forward to feeling better.

HOW LONG IS THERAPY?
I offer weekly sessions. Psychotherapy and counselling sessions are 50 minutes long and EMDR sessions can last up to 90 minutes.
The length of your therapy will greatly depend on the severity and length of your distress.

IS THERAPY CONFIDENTIAL?
Yes, therapy is confidential! However, if you are under 18 years of age, I will require consent from a parent or legal guardian.
Our sessions are confidential as are my dealings with your parents. I stick to confidential boundaries and do not share any details unless it is otherwise agreed upon first.
You do need to know that I have a duty of care and safeguarding towards you. This means if you tell me you or someone else is in danger of serious harm, I have a duty to report this. For more information, please see my Privacy Policy.

REVIEW AND ENDINGS
We will continue to review our therapeutic progress at suitable intervals, and if agreed, I will review with your parents too.
Endings are important. You can end any time you wish, but we will need to agree some time to complete our work. Ending therapy might take a few sessions. This is to ensure that you are not left in a vulnerable place. I suggest a minimum of 3 sessions to work through our ending together and say goodbye.
ASSESSMENT AND WORKING AGREEMENT
Before psychotherapy or EMDR can take place, I will send you my working agreement and my privacy statement. These documents must be completed and signed and will ensure that we work together safely and ethically. If you are under the age of 18, your parent/s or legal guardian will also need to give their consent and agreement to the therapy.
